Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. I’ve got some new and information regarding upcoming updates and projects. However, there’s been a prevalent ‘radio silence’ about the site for a while now, so I’d like to get into a bit of that, first.

A couple months back, the changes made to the site came to a slow halt. This change of pace was brought on by my laptop, which is apparently nearing its end. This put me in a position where I had the time and energy to create works and update the portfolio accordingly, but unfortunately, not the means. In fact, it got to a point where my phone became a better tool for checking email than my laptop did. On a related note, I was able to witness Notepad in an unresponsive state for the first time in my life.

It’s been quite some time since the last post, as it’s been very slow-goings for the portfolio, but far from slow in regards to its projects, so I’ll be giving you all a heads-up on what’s to come. But, before that, I have an announcement to make.

After tallying the downloads for the Super Mario Bros. In First Person game, I found that an astonishing landmark has been made.


We hit 10,000 downloads! And, I say “we” because I’m just the one who made the game; it’s everyone else that made the game so popular through videos on YouTube, tweets on Twitter, and shares on Facebook. Thanks once again for playing my game. Now, back to the other sections of the portfolio.


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. I must say, I’m particularly excited about this post, since there is quite a bit to cover this time around.

As you may have noticed, the website has gone through quite a few changes overnight, but I can assure you that they were much needed, and have made each portion of the website more intuitive and structured. Beyond that, I’ve calculated that ninety percent of the content have maintained their previous locations, so very little has been “disturbed” by this move. Just as I did in the first post, I’ll do a once-over of the website to further explain these changes before getting into other updates.

Just as before, the Home page will serve as a hub for information regarding updates, events, and otherwise. The About page now gives a brief description of who I am and what I do, along with a list of my tools of the trade. Also, the Contact page also provides a direct email with which to contact me, alongside the previous contact form. A new addition to the website, the External page links to the various social media outlets I use to keep those that are interested “in-the-know”.

This time around, I’ll be making a sort of “impromptu” post; in the sense that this post was not “planned” the same way previous posts have been. As the title suggests, I wanted to share something astounding with you all –  a recent development that appears to be ongoing.

As you may (or may not) know, I uploaded the Super Mario Bros. In First Person game to this website on October 24th, 2013, and have been since monitoring the downloads for the aforementioned game. The reason being that I plan to make more games in the near future, but wanted to test the waters with one of my “less original” ideas. The rate people are downloading the game in relation to how much, or how little I advertise the game lets me know how people are receiving it. The data I gather from those statistics can be used for later games, so I have a better understanding of how to handle the process. Each month on the download page for the game, I update the number of times the game has been downloaded for curious minds. Based on the first four months of this log, the game averaged anywhere between 100 and 300 downloads a month; this number increased exponentially for the month of February, to an astonishing 1250. I’ve created a familiarly colored chart for you visual folks out there.


This makes the total downloads 2120.


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. As promised, I’ll be taking a moment to review my time at the last event I attended.

ZeroFolio was at ASU MainOn February 28th, 2014, I was invited to help manage the Gaming Certificate Booth, Booth 24, and got to see over a hundred game-faces, from a rather vast age range of people. If you followed my twitter posts, you’re already a bit “in-the-know”, but I’ll get more in depth by providing a few of the photos I took. I was fortunate enough to provide two games I’ve developed as apart of the exhibit – Super Mario Bros. In First Person and Retro Revolver – which both received quite a bit of attention from the visitors thanks to one of the other exhibitors.

The event lasted just under six hours, and it was an all-around great way to spend a Friday. Quite a bit of time was spent giving instructions on how to play the games, although most of the games had instructions in them.


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. I have a rather odd combination of things to go over this time around, and plan to get to them after a relatively short announcement.

Due to a bug flying about the University, which I seem to have caught, I’ve been on-again-off-again ill; sneezing, coughing, soreness – the works. As such, progressing certain projects I intended on having available for you all to view, (which will each be explained in greater detail shortly), did not happen as planned, and will unfortunately have to wait a while longer. I’ll be visiting a doctor later this afternoon, and hope for a speedy recovery in order to get back on track with these projects. Now, on to the details.

The main concern at the moment is the 2D Animation page, which has been repeatedly pushed forward for various reasons in the past, but inevitably boils down to “it is not ready”. My intention was to have the pilot automatically be placed on the page on February 1st; however, in my sickness, I seemed to have made an error on the script that handled the aforementioned task, resulting in a negative value on the countdown, and no video. The new date for the Inverse video to be available is April 1st, 2014. No kidding.


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. I thoroughly enjoyed myself during my break, but have been itching to get back to my projects almost immediately after starting. Before we begin, however, there’s a quick aside I would like to make.


I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season in 2013, and wish everyone a prosperous 2014. Something about the ending of one year and the beginning of another always seems to change my perception of the world; even if only in the slightest of ways. But, enough on that, as I have updates to share with you all.

The first update I want to mention can be seen on every page of the website; towards the bottom of each page, next to the social media links, there is a new icon. That’s right; ZeroFolio is now accepting donations via Paypal. This motion is of a rather high significance to me, as it means I finally have enough content to warrant someone who likes my work to donate. Any amount is appreciated, and of course, you have my thanks in advance.

Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. Last time, I offhandedly mentioned my first game release and an event. At the time, I didn’t have enough concrete information to share with you all, so today, I’ll be clarifying. First, a couple of updates.

After a lot of behind-the-scenes tweaking for the Graphic Design section, I have a few subsections for it planned out: Wallpapers, Logos, Flyers, and Designs. “Designs” can be likened to a sort of “scrapbook”, or miscellaneous subsection, but neither of those words are very efficient for this context. There is also a “Special” subsection that is currently in the works, for the sake of a series of similarly styled graphics. As previously stated, Graphic Design has been a passion of mine for over six years, and as such, it should be rather large in size; however, this is not the case. So, in between other projects and life, I’ll be working toward filling this section with more recent works. This process should be completed by October 20th, if all goes well.

The other update I want to touch on is the 2D Animation section. There’s a bit of wait time on this section (November 1st), but it should be well worth it in the end. I’m currently gathering all the resources I need to not only start up this series, but maintain it in an organized fashion. Since much of it is still in the works, I can only give out so much information about; but I will say this: it is drawn in an Anime style, and currently titled “Inverse”.
