Hey there, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. It's a been a long while, and a lot has changed (in regards to the portfolio, and life in general). In fact, it's been so long, the phrase "radio silence" doesn't seem to cut it - between work changes and personal struggles appearing one after another, I've been terribly remiss in keeping track of my progress, and as such, updating the portfolio. But, fear not; I'll be covering all of the new and altered contents right now. So, without further ado, let's get to it.

As you can see, the website has been revamped to a much more modern theme. But, it's not just aesthetic; there's a functional difference, too. While a vast majority of the website was developed from scratch, the blog portion was powered by Wordpress. Now, even that's done in house. This gives me more control of the changes I make to the website, along with getting rid of that awful load time from all the extra, unused resources.

The 2D Animation page is business as usual, although there's a chance I'll take it down if I can't find a way to get some content on there this year. The 3D Modeling page hasn't had any new additions in a while, either, but I'm planning to fix that. It did, however, get an update in how data is presented; all model thumbnails are separate from their full previews, and each thumbnail can be hovered over for its relevant information. The Game Development page hasn't been updated either, but, keep a close eye on that one. Graphic Design has a system similar to that of the 2D Animation page within its inner sections, and if you take a look inside, you'll see there are a couple new logos in there, and one updated logo. Finally, the Web Creations has had one website added, and one website removed. Each of these main portfolio sections have had changes to their URLs, and I've made it so that the old pages take visitors to the new page. This is the first time I've done this in such a large scale, so do pardon the dust if anything goes awry.


Hey there, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. There are a few things I want to cover this time around, and one or two topics I want to save for the next post, which will likely be in a month or so as specifics are solidified. For now, let’s jump right in.

Believe it or not, the portfolio will reach its two-and-a-half year mark of existence by the end of this week. It feels as though it’s been much longer than that, since the portfolio existed in another form for several years before that, as a freelance graphic design services under the name “Greene Graphics”. It began with small graphics, then grew to incorporate print and web. This grew further still, and it wasn’t long before the original website had some animations and small game projects in hidden directories. It was a long time coming, but I eventually made the transition from having a website for my business to having a portfolio for my works.

In that time, I was still figuring out what I wanted to accomplish with everything, and how it would all lead to game development in the future. I still am, in fact, but I can see the progress I’ve made in that regard, and I know that I’m edging ever closer to that horizon.

This time’s post will have a bit of personal news, a strong emphasis on the future of Game Development in regards to the portfolio, and to bring about a new feature of the portfolio. Now, this isn’t something I generally do on the portfolio unless I find it in close relation to the progression of the portfolio itself. Between acclimating to a full-time job, moving into a new living space, and – beginning tomorrow – a new position at that full-time job, I’ve only been focused on the content end, and have completely neglected the social end. After finally stepping into the current age of technology (that is to say, mobile applications), we should all see a drastic change in how both ends are handled. What this should amount to is:


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. This is the first post following the winter hiatus, and I’m hoping everyone enjoyed their holiday season as much as I did. There’s a lot to go over in a short amount of time. So, without further ado, let’s get to it.

The first thing I want to talk about is the major overhaul of the site. Now, you all my only see an aesthetic change, but the entire portfolio website was changed, inside and out, up and down, and eight ways to Sunday. One page has been removed, and eight have been added. The major takeaways from this change are the fresh look for the new year, responsive elements, more content, consistent organization for the content, and some user friendly tidbits here and there. I’ll be going over these changes on a page-by-page basis, to get everyone up to speed.

The “External” page has been removed, and I added social icons to the bottoms of each page instead. The “External” page was a good idea at the time, but since the portfolio has grown substantially since that page was first added, I felt the change was necessary. Another site-wide change is that the ZeroFolio logo links to the home page; this is a common practice among most websites, and it’s one that I use often on other websites, so this seemed appropriate. The last site-wide change is mobile optimization; shrinking your browser window (or being on a mobile device) will change the size of and/or replace certain elements, to better the readability of the website on the go. Let’s move on to the pages.


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. I’ve got some new and information regarding upcoming updates and projects. However, there’s been a prevalent ‘radio silence’ about the site for a while now, so I’d like to get into a bit of that, first.

A couple months back, the changes made to the site came to a slow halt. This change of pace was brought on by my laptop, which is apparently nearing its end. This put me in a position where I had the time and energy to create works and update the portfolio accordingly, but unfortunately, not the means. In fact, it got to a point where my phone became a better tool for checking email than my laptop did. On a related note, I was able to witness Notepad in an unresponsive state for the first time in my life.

What. A. Horrifying. Sight.

It’s been quite some time since the last post, as it’s been very slow-goings for the portfolio, but far from slow in regards to its projects, so I’ll be giving you all a heads-up on what’s to come. But, before that, I have an announcement to make.

After tallying the downloads for the Super Mario Bros. In First Person game, I found that an astonishing landmark has been made.


We hit 10,000 downloads! And, I say “we” because I’m just the one who made the game; it’s everyone else that made the game so popular through videos on YouTube, tweets on Twitter, and shares on Facebook. Thanks once again for playing my game. Now, back to the other sections of the portfolio.


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. I must say, I’m particularly excited about this post, since there is quite a bit to cover this time around.

As you may have noticed, the website has gone through quite a few changes overnight, but I can assure you that they were much needed, and have made each portion of the website more intuitive and structured. Beyond that, I’ve calculated that ninety percent of the content have maintained their previous locations, so very little has been “disturbed” by this move. Just as I did in the first post, I’ll do a once-over of the website to further explain these changes before getting into other updates.

Just as before, the Home page will serve as a hub for information regarding updates, events, and otherwise. The About page now gives a brief description of who I am and what I do, along with a list of my tools of the trade. Also, the Contact page also provides a direct email with which to contact me, alongside the previous contact form. A new addition to the website, the External page links to the various social media outlets I use to keep those that are interested “in-the-know”.


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. I have a rather odd combination of things to go over this time around, and plan to get to them after a relatively short announcement.

Due to a bug flying about the University, which I seem to have caught, I’ve been on-again-off-again ill; sneezing, coughing, soreness – the works. As such, progressing certain projects I intended on having available for you all to view, (which will each be explained in greater detail shortly), did not happen as planned, and will unfortunately have to wait a while longer. I’ll be visiting a doctor later this afternoon, and hope for a speedy recovery in order to get back on track with these projects. Now, on to the details.

The main concern at the moment is the 2D Animation page, which has been repeatedly pushed forward for various reasons in the past, but inevitably boils down to “it is not ready”. My intention was to have the pilot automatically be placed on the page on February 1st; however, in my sickness, I seemed to have made an error on the script that handled the aforementioned task, resulting in a negative value on the countdown, and no video. The new date for the Inverse video to be available is April 1st, 2014. No kidding.


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. I thoroughly enjoyed myself during my break, but have been itching to get back to my projects almost immediately after starting. Before we begin, however, there’s a quick aside I would like to make.


I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season in 2013, and wish everyone a prosperous 2014. Something about the ending of one year and the beginning of another always seems to change my perception of the world; even if only in the slightest of ways. But, enough on that, as I have updates to share with you all.

The first update I want to mention can be seen on every page of the website; towards the bottom of each page, next to the social media links, there is a new icon. That’s right; ZeroFolio is now accepting donations via Paypal. This motion is of a rather high significance to me, as it means I finally have enough content to warrant someone who likes my work to donate. Any amount is appreciated, and of course, you have my thanks in advance.


Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. Last time, I offhandedly mentioned my first game release and an event. At the time, I didn’t have enough concrete information to share with you all, so today, I’ll be clarifying. First, a couple of updates.

After a lot of behind-the-scenes tweaking for the Graphic Design section, I have a few subsections for it planned out: Wallpapers, Logos, Flyers, and Designs. “Designs” can be likened to a sort of “scrapbook”, or miscellaneous subsection, but neither of those words are very efficient for this context. There is also a “Special” subsection that is currently in the works, for the sake of a series of similarly styled graphics. As previously stated, Graphic Design has been a passion of mine for over six years, and as such, it should be rather large in size; however, this is not the case. So, in between other projects and life, I’ll be working toward filling this section with more recent works. This process should be completed by October 20th, if all goes well.

The other update I want to touch on is the 2D Animation section. There’s a bit of wait time on this section (November 1st), but it should be well worth it in the end. I’m currently gathering all the resources I need to not only start up this series, but maintain it in an organized fashion. Since much of it is still in the works, I can only give out so much information about; but I will say this: it is drawn in an Anime style, and currently titled “Inverse”.
