Hey all, and welcome back to the portfolio of yours truly, Brandon Greene-Hooks. I thoroughly enjoyed myself during my break, but have been itching to get back to my projects almost immediately after starting. Before we begin, however, there’s a quick aside I would like to make.

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season in 2013, and wish everyone a prosperous 2014. Something about the ending of one year and the beginning of another always seems to change my perception of the world; even if only in the slightest of ways. But, enough on that, as I have updates to share with you all.

The first update I want to mention can be seen on every page of the website; towards the bottom of each page, next to the social media links, there is a new icon. That’s right; ZeroFolio is now accepting donations via Paypal. This motion is of a rather high significance to me, as it means I finally have enough content to warrant someone who likes my work to donate. Any amount is appreciated, and of course, you have my thanks in advance.

Moving right along with the Main Page, which now spans across the page width, in accordance with the rest of the site, and balances out the remaining negative space. I’m considering the addition of a search function once these updates begin to create multiple pages. but that is a project for later.

Now, the 2D Animation section has something new, as well; a logo, and a countdown timer underneath it. In the past, I briefly mentioned a project titled “Inverse”, and I’m happy to say that the pilot of this series of animated shorts will be available at the new date of February 1st, 2014. This date has been pushed forward a few times, due to my lack of experience with this form of animation, and as I learn more about it, I realize that certain elements will take much more time than I had originally thought. Which is all apart of the learning process, so even with the setbacks, I’m enjoying myself.

The 3D Modeling section has a new tab next to the Super Series, called the Zero Series. This series will contain models I’ll be creating from one of my favorite game titles, “Megaman Zero”, and will be ready on March 3rd. In the meantime, I’ll also be adding more models to the Super Series, and a couple edits as to what it displays.

Aside from the updates for the Super Mario Bros. In First Person page I mentioned earlier, there is also a secondary update for the Game Development section; a new tab with a slanted “e” on it. This is for the would-be game project titled “Re:Member”. This project has been in the works for seven years; long before I knew how to develop games. It will also be the first game release with original content, so there’s that, as well. Re:Member, simply put, is a 2D, side-scrolling fighting game that will maintain a strong focus on the gameplay elements and story; something reminiscent of a retro video game. I plan to get a majority of the development done during the Summer, so I have tentatively set the game to be released during the Fall of 2014. If it becomes large enough to warrant it, I may even look to crowdfunding to make sure my resources are just what I’m looking for.

Finally, the Graphic Design section has had its prototype gallery up for quite some time. A major issue I’m currently working on resolving is, it’s not very intuitive. As such, elements I plan to implement are cursor dynamics (changing the cursor when mousing over “clickable” images), gallery navigation with keyboard controls (similar to those in the 3D Modeling section), and a button that takes you back to the main portfolio (an element that should be placed in each portfolio subsection). I also have a logo and wallpaper I’ll be adding later on.

That’s all for now, everyone. I have a lot to do, so I’ll be posting updates on Facebook and Twitter as per usual.
